Rugeley Cats Society was founded by me, Sallie Young, after my cat Doris went missing in March 2013. Despite frantically searching I never found her. What I did find however, were a lot of neglected, homeless unloved cats. I began treating them for fleas and worms, feeding them, and taking them to the vet to check for a microchip in the hope of finding their families.
On the 14th of June, my money ran out. I knew we had to either stop helping cats or become a charity to enable us to take public donations. On the 24th June the charitable trust deed was signed and witnessed by myself and two friends, and by the end of July 2013 the charity bank account was active.
Rugeley Cats Society started to expand, more people were asking for help, more cats in need. Now there is a team of volunteers that help with the day to day running of the charity, carrying out rescues, foster care, answering emails and messages. Katrina, Leanne, Anna and Teresa all help with this. We also have Lynn and Jac who help with fostering
Nobody who works at Rugeley Cats Society gets paid. Nobody claims expenses. Every penny raised goes to the cats we have in care. We need your support. Without it we can’t do what we do.
